if not earlier. >> i came back from dallas on saturday because on thursday i knew this thing was happening. so the exchange knew it was coming as well. all the exchanges. here's what we know, the major exchanges had a big meeting on friday, discussed how they might plan for a monday opening. they had the same -- they had meetings with themselves and talking to their customers ie the brokerage community. we should point out that the sec communicated to the exchanges they wanted a monday opening as well. we should point out that the nyse told the trading community, both friday and saturday, that they should plan on a normal opening. okay? they did tell them that there's always contingency plans out there, ie, we may go full electronic. no floor traders, but, you know, we're doing a monday opening. what did that mean to the brokerage community? the goldman sachs, the credit suisse, what did that mean to the big traders? they have their systems in place to deal primarily with the integrated system that the new york stock exchange offers. you know, part electronic, part brokers on the floor. they a

increases over the past year, liz, you have markets like phoenix for example, denver, dallas, orlando. some of the markets that were hit very, very hard showing big gains in median home price. on a national basis we've seen about a 10% gain in price year-over-year. and then there are markets that are still lagging. so it really matters quite a bit how much job growth you're seeing in the metro. for example, phoenix, which is registered the biggest up jump in prices added 50,000 jobs over the past 12 months. that is very important indicator. the other indicator if we burn through the shadow inventory, meaning a lot of vacant homes and a lot of foreclosures, across the country you've seen foreclosures fall to 18% of total sales from a high of 30% which is another important indicator that the tells us the recovery is sustainable. liz: i like to hear that, that the recovery is sustainable. thanks so much. nice to see you. thank you very much. >> it's a pleasure. david: fresh air. what is the difference between political campaigns and hollywood movies? our next guest says, not much. peter guber,

on the weather map. these are the high temperatures today. dallas hit 81. we'll be closer to 57 degrees, so still a little below average tomorrow with average being 61. we'll be 57 degrees. it will be a sunot as windy as today was. saturday 64. veterans day sunday at 68 degrees and a lot of you will be observing veterans day monday, the official holiday, 67 degrees. so a very nice stretch of days for us. our next shot for rain probably not until tuesday as a frontal boundary closes in. cool tomorrow, lots of sunshine as high pressure gets closer to us, the winds getting lighter. the high keeps motoring over to the coast. we get the warmer air around the backside of it out of the southwest on saturday and sunday, still keeping a good amount of that sunshine. for tonight 36 degrees, clear skies. we'll have some temperatures at or below 32 into the 20s in the suburbs. winds should lighten up to 10. tomorrow winds out of the northwest 5 to 15, so a breeze but much better than today's wind gusts, 57 degrees friday, sunny and nice, still a little below average for november. here is what we think it wil

, tennessee, if you're in dallas, texas or pittsburgh, pa, life may be feeling less desperate. there's evidence of job growth and expansion there. but i should point out the survey that looked for any signs of recovery has just identified those three cities as the only ones in the entire country which are experiencing a measurable comeback from the so-called great depression. so knoxville, dallas and pittsburgh are in a very small club. looking deeply at the numbers, we see knoxville informed in infrastructure -- invested in infrastructure, often spending money from the government through its federal stimulus program. and dallas was not hit as hard as many cities in the housing industry plunge. and then there's this coming to light today, the mayor of detroit now admitting his city has reached a breaking point, bankruptcy on a the table, we're told, but the mayor hoping to avoid that by furloughing some of the 11,000 city workers, and that will begin in january. quickly, though, back to the good news. three of our 76 recognized major metro areas are feeling some relief. doesn't sound
